In 2011 we were delighted when ‘Health Behavior Change; a practitioner’s guide’ was highly commended by the British Medical Association in their annual book awards and I feel justified in recommending this to you health professionals out there. It links to a web page with patient handouts and a DVD to watch and is available as an Ebook for you Kindle readers.

Meanwhile the MI ‘bible’ by Bill Miller and Steve Rollnick is now in its 3rd edition offering new insights into how we conceptualise what we do. (‘Motivational Interviewing; helping people change’ 2012). I am currently integrating the key new ideas into the solid foundation we already have and 2013’s courses will all have the updated materials.

In fact Guilford Press’s ‘Applications of Motivational Interviewing’ series has grown rapidly with 8 titles now including the afore-mentioned classic. You can now read up on MI in specific contexts e.g.;

  • Motivational Interviewing in the Treatment of Psychological Problems
  • MI in Health Care
  • MI with Adolescents and Young Adults
  • MI and Social Work Practice
  • MI in the Treatment of Anxiety
  • MI in groups

All attendees on our courses are given promotional codes to get 20% off all these books plus free delivery in the UK.
